Using the OSU Online Directory with Outlook Express

Configuring Outlook Express 5/6:

• Windows
• Mac

Outlook Express 5/6 for Windows:

1. Open Outlook Express
2. Click on the Tools menu and choose Accounts...
3. Click on the Directory Service tab
4. Click Add and choose Directory Service... from the menu
5. Type directory.oregonstate.edu in the Internet Directory (LDAP) server box and click next
6. Answer Yes to Do you want to check addresses using the directory service and click next
7. Click Finish
8. In the Internet Accounts window, click on the Directory Service tab and locate directory.oregonstate.edu in the list of options.
9. Click on directory.oregonstate.edu to highlight it and select Properties
10. Click on the Advanced tab and enter o=orst.edu in the Search base box
11. Click OK and close the Internet Accounts window

To search for people, click on the Addresses button at the top of your Outlook Express window. In the Address book window click on find people and enter the name of the person you would like to look up.

Outlook Express 5 for Mac:

1. Open Outlook Express
2. Click on the Tools menu and choose Accounts...
3. Click on the Directory Service tab
4. Click on the New button.
5. Type directory.oregonstate.edu in the Internet Directory (LDAP) server box and click the Right arrow button.
6. Type directory.oregonstate.edu in the Account name box and click the Finish button.
7. In the Internet Accounts window, click on the Directory Service tab and locate directory.oregonstate.edu in the list of options.
8. Click on directory.oregonstate.edu to highlight it and click on the Edit button.
9. Click on the Options tab and enter o=orst.edu in the Search base box
10. Click OK and close the Internet Accounts window
